Sorry I haven't posted in a while, it is due to there being no, swell on the Isle Of Anglesey.
Because of this lack of surf we have been getting desperate, so we have been travelling around Great Britain to suck up as many surf opportunities as possible. This time we ended up going east for a day. We got up at 5:00am and drove 4 hours across the country to Cayton bay, as we got to the car park feeling groggy and tired, we came upon the sight of some large brown lumps coming into the bay in an unorganised fashion, with some locals which pointing us into the right direction, Scarborough South was the knowledge, as we turned round the corner and came upon an attractive sight, the sun was out, the waves where rolling in, with not much wind. Perfect east coast I've heard..
So straight away I made mistake wearing a 3/2mm wetsuit which is fine in the tropical waters of Wales, but after about 30 minutes I was quite cold. Helping with that of me becoming cold was due not to have not been on a SUP for a while I was just splashing about falling in, and missing loads of waves, and a onshore wind picked up (not a good start to the day). As the tide came in and reached the wall, we caught a couple of waves in front of the wall and decided to give it a rest for a bit. After some 'Coke life' and a cookie, we headed of for a nosey around a crowded town, went down the harbour wall, up to the castle and dad got me and my sister four sea side doughnuts each!! What a treat! (Even though he took two of mine).
As the tide went down, we slowly got back into our wetsuits, (putting on a 5/3mm wetsuit this time). The wind had dropped down to nothing, so paddling out, still feeling tired we got out back and started to get into the swing of things, the waves had chilled out a bit, but there were more people out now mainly longboarders, and a few shortboarders giving it a go. After a few more hours of good fun the tide had gone out quite a bit and the waves had died slightly, so decided it was time to head back. After a well-deserved surf, We head home to comfy bed.
